Why I do what I do?

In a time where information is literally just one click away, it is sometimes hard to determine if the information we find is fact or fiction. This is actually the reason I decided to study aromatherapy. Let's take a little trip back in time, actually just a few years.

Picture this: Facebook 2018. People are selling essential oils, having “oily parties”, and posting information about using essential oils. A friend invited me to an online party selling essential oils. Being new to anything with essential oils, I decided to see what she had to offer, and I went in with an open mind.

I listened to the information that was presented, and decided that while I was listening I would look up more information and that way, before I committed to any purchase I would be able to have some of my questions answered. You may have even had some of these questions; “Where do the oils come from? How do you use them? Are they safe? Can you use them around children and animals?”

The answers I received seem to contradict some of the answers that I was finding elsewhere on the internet. However, I was intrigued at the scientific studies, albeit, seemingly few, that were touting the true health benefits of essential oil use.

Now, don't get me wrong. I was not at all impressed with the contradictory information I was receiving, but I knew that there was something to aromatherapy and essential oil use, but I needed to learn more for myself.

Fast forward a month or so later and I decide to enroll in the Master Clinical Aromatherapist course, because from the day of that party on, I had felt a desire and a need to make sure that those questions that I had that night were answered correctly. There needed to be accountability from those selling essential oils, that they would be sold and marketed with everyone's health and safety in mind.

I guess I looked at it as my own personal crusade. As I continued to learn, I realized that the world of aromatherapy is deep, layered in a lot of chemistry, botany, anatomy, psychology, and many other sciences. Which means that there is a lot more to understand than, here dilute this and rub it on your skin, or drop some in a diffuser and sniff.

Aromatherapy is plant medicine, and it reacts to your body in different ways, just like conventional medicine. Which means that, YES! In fact you can have side effects, and YES! They can conflict with other medications you may take. And just like you wouldn't give a child certain medications, or for example, an adult dose of Tylenol, there are safety measures which are important for keeping your children safe. Also, some essential oils can be downright deadly to animals. Which means that you should know how to use aromatherapy safely.

When I realized how involved aromatherapy is, I decided that I needed to make myself available for all, to learn about all things aromatherapy. There was in the inception of Nunda Valley Botanicals.

My goal is to educate, create safe and effective products that you will feel confident using, and ultimately make aromatherapy affordable to all.

But wait, there is more! When I discovered my love for aromatherapy, I ended up discovering my love for a whole body wellness approach. I decided to continue my education in Phytotherapy, which not only encompasses aromatherapy, but also herbal education and nutrition. So I am honored to continue learning for YOU! Because you ALL matter.

Continue to follow me here at nundavalley.com or on our social media at Nunda Valley Botanicals on Facebook and Instagram, as I continue my education and do my best to educate you and bring you the safe and effective aromatherapy products.
